Brian Newman’s practice focuses on criminal defense, personal injury, and medical malpractice. He currently serves the city of Columbia as city councilman for the 5th district.
Mr. Newman graduated from Morehouse College, Atlanta, Georgia, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. He later earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in Columbia.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Newman was an assistant solicitor for the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office where he prosecuted a variety of criminal cases including, but not limited to fraud, burglary, assault crimes, and murder. Mr. Newman’s sister is an attorney practicing civil defense in Columbia and his father is a Circuit Court Judge in South Carolina.
Mr. Newman is also active in politics on a local and national level. He has worked on and organized a variety of political races at the local, state and national level.
